mosaic macro pad

a modular macro pad system for creators, musicians, hackers, and productivity nerds. built by us, configured by you.
overview:
software used by technical creatives, such as 3D modeling suites, digital image manipulation tools, coding IDEs, and NLEs often require users to memorize and employ complex keyboard shortcuts to efficiently use the tools within said programs. macro pads solve this by assigning several keystrokes or actions to a single button, yet are often relatively limited in terms of customizability — both physical and on the software side of things. mosaic takes an alternative approach.
rather than selling a macro pad with a prefixed layout, mosaic offers users a fully modular input system built around a 5×4 grid of magnetic pogo pin connectors. individual modules — keys, knobs, sliders, displays, and more — snap into place anywhere on the base, letting users compose a control surface that reflects exactly how they work.

mosaic studio is a custom control software that allows users to map inputs, create macros, and build application-specific profiles. it features a node-based macro editor, enabling everything from simple key remapping to multi-step automations with conditional logic, timing controls, and cross-application triggers. the software communicates with the device in real time, allowing live reconfiguration and visual feedback for supported modules such as displays, knobs, and sliders.

next steps:
i'm already well underway of making a more functional mvp of the system, splitting my time between doing electronics design for several basic interchangeable modules and more fully fleshing out the macro-creation software. this page will receive updates at the project progresses.
